Yerington,NV - Lyon County - c1910 - Commercial Hotel Photograph :
A view of about 40 men standing and sitting in front of a commercial building. Photograph 9 1/2 x 7 1/2", mounted on 10 x 7 3/4" beige backing. High contrast, good focus. Pinholes in all corners but upper right. One gouge of 1/2" in upper middle along with several areas through the middle where the image has been scratched. Some discoloration also noted at upper right and left corner. No photographer noted. Hand written on reverse, top to bottom, in what appears to be older ink and writing style, are the names of most of the men pictured. Men are grouped from "Top Row-Left to Right," "2 Row Standing," "3rd Row," "4th Row-Standing left to right." Others are listed as "Don't know," or "don't know the Indian boys." Building and town unverifiable from photograph. Yerington and its post office were established in early 1894. Formerly served by the C & C RR and the NCB RR. Named after Henry Marvin Yerington, a native of Calborne, Canada, and the superintendant of former V & T RR and builder along with partner Duane L. Bliss of the LTNG RR.
