<B>William Dennison Autograph Letter Signed</B></I> 6.5” x 10”, January 12, 1861, Columbus, Ohio. The letter is to President James Buchanan pledging “<I>the entire power, and resources of Ohio … for the maintenance … of the Constitution, and laws of the General Government</B></I>”. Dennison (1815-1882) served as the 24th Governor of Ohio. In the early days of the succession crisis, Dennison mobilized Ohio troops and dispatched them to the Federal government. Later, he would served as U.S. Postmaster General in the Cabinet of President Abraham Lincoln during the American Civil War.
