Early lever action repeating rifle chambered in .44-40 Winchester, circa 1880's. Features a blued finish, 28" octagonal barrel marked "WHITNEYVILLE ARMORY, CT. U.S.A KENNEDY", full length tube magazine, German silver blade front sight, buckhorn rear sight(missing ramp), 's' shaped lever, checkered thumbprint hammer spur, metal forend cap, smooth walnut forend and straight grip shoulder stock with crescent trapdoor buttplate. The tang is marked "PAT’D JANY. 7-73. APRIL 12 ) MAY 13 & AUG. 12-79." The rifle's finish has moves to an even dark brown patina with evidence of bright bluing in protected areas. Action performs well, bore is good with some moderate pitting towards the muzzle and wood stocks are very good with a 2 3/4" chip along the top[ left side of the forearm & a crack at the toe of the shoulder stock with a nail placed to keep it from progressing. Condition is good to very good. ***Antique Firearm***
