Wedgwood Earthenware Ewer Hand Painted by Emile Lessore
A Victorian Wedgwood earthenware ewer featuring hand-painted decoration by the French artist Emile Lessore. The vessel is designed with an ovoid body, a slender flaring neck, and a single upright loop handle. The main body is decorated with a continuous landscape scene executed in a monochrome green palette, a technique known as en cama¯eu. The scene depicts a large gathering of figures and children in 18th-century dress. The neck is ornamented with vertical blue foliate and zigzag patterns against a cream-colored ground. Bright orange bands accent the rim, the base of the neck, and the foot. The ewer is hand-signed E Lessore in green paint near the base of the landscape scene. The underside of the base is impressed with the mark WEDGWOOD. The base retains a circular silver Rubin Collection sticker. Dimensions: 5.50"L x 5.00"W x 10.00"H
