Wedgwood Creamware Etruscan Honeysuckle Plate
A fine English Wedgwood creamware circular plate dating to the late 18th century. The piece features a sophisticated Neoclassical border in the "Etruscan Honeysuckle" pattern, comprised of repeating hand-painted honeysuckle motifs in a striking palette of black and iron red. The decorative border is framed by concentric iron red bands against a characteristic pale cream-colored glazed ground. The underside bears the impressed block WEDGWOOD maker's mark. Provenance includes a circular collector's label for the Rubin Collection and various handwritten inventory notations. This style reflects the late 18th-century fascination with Greek and Roman antiquities popularized by Josiah Wedgwood's "Etruscan" wares.
