Way to Love (Paramount, 1933). Half Sheet (22" X 28"). Maurice Chevalier is a Parisian tour guide earning money wearing a sandwich board that reads, "Is Your Heart Happy? No? Consult Professor Bibi, 17 Rue Canton." An assistant (Ann Dvorak) to a carnival knife thrower falls for him, but will an interloper interrupt their budding romance? Chevalier maintains his trademark Parisian cheerfulness throughout, particularly in a memorably drunken tie-cutting competition. Sylvia Sidney was slated for the assistant's role but walked off the picture. Only after Carole Lombard refused the part did Dvorak play opposite Chevalier. This half sheet captures the dizzying courtship, with Dvorak in various states of ecstasy. The poster has small stains along the bottom edge, various tears along the borders, abrasions in the image and two large crease marks that trisect the image. Great piece for any Chevalier fan. Fine.
