War of 1812
U.S. Navy Model 1808 Contract Flintlock Ship’s Pistol by “S. NORTH, BERLIN” Limited to Only 3,000 Units Made
c. 1808-1810 War of 1812 Era, U.S. Navy Model 1808 Contract Flintlock Ship’s Pistol, made by “S. NORTH”, Choice Very Fine.
An outstanding, rare American made U.S. Navy Model 1808 Contract Flintlock Ship's Pistol with Belt hook, by “S. NORTH, BERLIN” (Conn.). This pistol appears to be in original flint configuration, yet is likely professionally reconverted and restored using original period parts. The total number of these Flintlock Ship’s Pistols produced was limited to only 3,000. It has a 10" long, .68 caliber, round Iron barrel which is marked on the extreme left side of breech with a “P” and stamped on the top with “U. STATES”. The Lock is marked with an American Federal Eagle, over “U. STATES” and “BERLIN”. The stock is solid with only very light scratches and trivial dings from years of actual service. We have seen other similar examples priced elsewhere in the $20,000 range. A very rare original U.S. Flintlock Martial Pistol in very good mechanical working order, which measures about 16.75” overall and is very handsome in its eye appeal.
