Tom Custer's British Bull Dog Little Bighorn
Offered in this lot is a British Bull Dog attributed to Captain Thomas Ward Custer, brother of General George Armstrong Custer. The revolver has a double action, serial number 45 (under frame) and chambered in .36 caliber with a 2 ¼-inch barrel with fixed front sight. The gun was examined by The Guns of History with accompanying paperwork and found to be marked by Captain Thomas War Duster and Yellow Bird. The pistol was also examined and listed with this history by the experts at Heritage Auctions. Faint TC and Togia Lakota markings for Yellow Bird are found on the left and right side of the frame and under the grips.

The attached history attributes the gun as being carried by Tom Custer into the Battle of the Little Bighorn and taken off his body by Monahseetah, later given to her son Yellow Bird. George Custer was known to carry the British Bull Dog.
