The patent was granted in 1905 for a two layer plate, front and back, crimped together at the outer edges. The Beach Company was one of many such companies producing portrait/ art/ advertising plates at the time Most of the portraits on these plates were close copies of hand painted portraits on porcelain plated produced by Royal Vienna and other makers of such porcelain plates. The plate on which you are bidding features rich colors and depicts a young woman with long, light brown hair and blue eyes. She is wearing a red gown and hoop earrings and has a decorative headdress on her head.. The border of the plate is cobalt blue with a gold and silver ornamental design. The back of the plate is off-white and has the Vienna Art Plates stamp in the center. Inside the stamp is also the patent date: "Feb. 21st/ 1905". The plate is in good overall condition, though there are some scratches. It comes with a wire plate holder designed to display the plate on a wall. The plate measures 10 1/8" in diameter.
