ZABRISKIE, NEW YORK CITY. Philadelphia: Messrs. Spine very weak, with covers loose; second half or so stained in margins. Good to very good. [with] THREE-RING BINDER HOLDING SET OF 13 REPRINT PLATES, AN ARTICLE ABOUT THE SALE AND A PHOTOCOPY OF THE PRICES REALIZED LIST. Contents held in plastic sleeves. Fine. A very important sale, well catalogued, featuring remarkable pioneer gold coins, American colonial coins, patterns and superb large cents. A lifelong collector, Zabriskie began buying pioneer gold coins long before they became popular. He had first choice, at private sale, of the Humbert collection before any of it was offered publicly. The reprint plates are well-done. Adams A: “Higleys (9). Brasher doubloon. Silver peace medals. Fabulous pioneer gold (Humbert’s collection). Excellent medals.” Clain-Stefanelli 12200.
