For your consideration is this two volume set of "The Journals and Letters of Major John Owen", edited by Dunbar and Phillips, and published in 1927. This is part of a Limited First Edition of 550 copies. There was also a large paper edition of 50. Transcribed and edited from the Original Manuscripts in the Montana Historical Society, These volumes are illustrated with 30 plates from photographs and other sources and two folding maps. The full title of the book is "The Journals of Major John Owen, Pioneer of the Northwest, 1850-1871, Embracing His Purchase of St Mary's Mission; the Building of Fort Owen; His Travels; His Relation with the Indians; His Work for the Government; and His Activities as a Western Empire Builder for Twenty Years." Both volumes are in excellent condition. Please note that they are ex library books from the Butte Silverbow Public Library and are rebound in decorative green cloth with yellow titles on the spines. Normal library markings with nice and tight bindings. Both volumes have damp staining throughout, though pages are not damaged. There are some wonderful pressed flowers in Volume 2. Octavo, 6 1/4" x 9 1/4".
