This was issued in 1840, is for $100. Engraved bond, filled out in ink, with 10 interest stubs at bottom. Produced by the Southern Bank Note Co. of New Orleans. 7½x10¾.

It is issued to Charles De Morse, who is often referred to as the "Father of Texas Journalism" and was stock commissioner under President Mirabeau B. Lamar, having the task of attempting to fund and bond the public debt.

The piece is signed by the first President of the Texas Republic David G. Burnett and was issued four years after the Battle of the Alamo and San Jacinto.

There is some water staining, but it is in very good condition, considering its age.
