10.07 ounces of .999 fine silver. Hallmarked on the side SMM with a circle around the outside, which is the trademark for the State of Maine mine in Tombstone. The ingot was produced from silver mine in the 1970s or 1980s by Charlie Escapule. The ingot is 3 1/8 inches long 3/4 inches tall and three-quarter inches wide at the base. The family produced silver from this mine for a number of years. Tombstone silver is always popular!
A lengthy article on these ingots was published by Delvin Campbell in the journal of the International Association of Silver Art Collectors. In the article, copy included with this lot, Delvin contacted descendants of the family, and shows numerous examples of the silver ingots made, all for the tourist trade, and some quite fun, such as an ingot in the shape of the famous figural Saguaro cactus. Today, these ingots are very rare.
