The lot features a nice, mid-1900's Southern Plains beaded bowcase, quiver, bow and arrows set. The set shows a carved wooden bow with sinew wrappings, hide wrapped sinew sewn gripping area and the original sinew or sinew like woven string still intact, bowstring is present and can be set on bow as shown. Collection includes two arrows with sinew wrapped iron tip arrowheads with sinew wrapped feather fletching and a red and yellow ocher painted finish. Arrows appear to be earlier, circa 1890-1920's. The bowcase / bow case and quiver is comprised of tanned hide with trade clothe showing sections of glass trade seed bead loom beadwork with stepped cross designs as well as long frilly fringes and braided horse tail hair fringes. The beadwork wraps around the quiver opening and end as well as the bow sheath opening and end and at the bottom of the shoulder strap ends. There is a stripped wood stick frame piece which is tied with sinew . A beautiful set that displays beautifully. The bow is 50-inches long. Arrows are 25.5--inches long. Overall the bowcase and quiver with strap is 56-inches tall and is 52-inches wide with bow.
