Sioux Trade Bead & Hair Pipe Necklace 19th C.
This is an excellent 19th Century trade bead necklace from the Northern Plains Sioux Native American Indians. The necklace is strung on early Indian tanned hide, a truly defining authentic aspect. The piece shows a very long double strand design and has a rich even patina across the entire surface. The beads include eight long hair pipe bone beads with a deep yellow patina and appear to be handmade, along with wound glass red white heart pony beads, wound glass pony sky padre light blue beads, dark green wound glass pony beads, faceted trade beads and a dark red wound glass trade bead. The necklace is beautifully matched showing nice original condition and authentic patina. Provenance: From an old American Indian collection in Manheim, Pennsylvania. Overall measures 108" in total length and is 54" length when double strung. Truly an exceptional authentic scarcely seen example.
