The lot features a set of wonderful fully top beaded moccasins from the Sioux Native American Indians of South Dakota and date to circa 1880's. The moccasins show an Indian tanned hide construction with parfleche rawhide soles and sinew sewn beadwork. The top edge of the medium height ankle collar shows an early red trade clothe edge sewn with commercial trade thread. The moccasins shows an excellent traditional geometric beaded pattern with all early glass trade seed beads in chalk white, medium semi-transparent green, and red white hearts all showing a sinew sewn construction. The set shows an overall very good condition with minimal bead loss and an attractive appearance. Provenance: The moccasins are from a large Historic Native American artifact and weapons collection in Clearmont, Wyoming and comes with a Historic Artifact Information sheet similar to a Certificate of Authenticity. The certificate is from Jeb Taylor and Plains Indian Artifacts, the renowned artifact collector and authenticator. The Historic Artifact Information sheet is signed a sealed. The moccasins each measure 3.25" x 8.5".
