The lot features a fantastic hide and parfleche beaded and quilled single moccasin from the Sioux Native American Indians of the 19th Century. The piece shows Indian tanned hide tops with parfleche rawhide hard soles all being sinew sewn with porcupine quill quillwork and a beaded edge. The piece shows a medium height ankle with extra hide fold being sinew sewn. The top of the moccasins shows a linear row of red natural dyed porcupine quills with a beaded border framing the entire base of the foot all in period correct petit glass trade seed beads in chalk white, greasy yellow, red white hearts, medium green and cobalt. The set shows original ties. There are some slight quill and bead loss and some hide cracking, but the piece presents very well. Wonderful circa 1870’s single moccasin that measures 10.25”L by 3 7/8”W by 5”H. Provenance: From a large Western Cowboy and American Indian collection in Dayton, Wyoming.
