Offered for sale is this nice fully beaded steer horn dance rattle from the Sioux Native American Indians and dating to the early 1900’s. The club shows a wood haft handle which has been wrapped in an Indian tanned hide and adorned with an excellent linear geometric beaded pattern with all early period correct glass trade seed beads. The beadwork shows a such colors as greasy yellow, chalk white, red, and cobalt. The top of the club sows two steer horn ends with a nice cream to black coloring. The horns are secured to the haft with a wrap of parfleche which has been covered with a strip of Indian tanned hide with an excellent checkered white, red and cobalt beaded pattern, a truly artist addition. Under the horns shows four metal brass covered trade hawk bells with fringe Indian tanned hide. Provenance: From a large American Indian and Western collection in Iowa. Measures overall 22”L with fringe by 7.75”W x 2.5”D.
