Sioux Chief's T Pipe Large Catlinite Bowl 20th C
This is an extra-large hand cut, hand carved and polished catlinite pipestone Chief's "T" pipe bowl from the Sioux Indians of the Plains in the 20th Century. Chief's Pipes are typically much larger than most other "T" pipe bowls and have a tapered nose. The piece shows a rounded tapered squared "T" body with tapering front nose with cut triangle shape at the bowl leading to the cylindrical polished tall thick bowl. The pipestone catalinte has amazing color with pink spots which are referred to by the Sioux as "stars" scattered throughout. Truly an amazing large example in good condition. Measures overall 10.75" by 4.5" by 1.75.
