This is an excellent Sioux Native American Indian beaded knife sheath and Russell Green River Works trade knife from the mid to late 19th century. The Russell Green River Works knife shows a Buffalo Skinner pattern with wood handle, the knife is from circa 1840-1880. The sheath shows a parfleche lining with Indian tanned hide having exquisite 19th century glass trade seed beads with a greasy yellow base and traditional patterns in Cheyenne pink, dark blue, semi-transparent green, semi-transparent rose, and sky blue. The scabbard has a braided parfleche rawhide top strap and tanned hide fringe. The piece also shows modernly added tin jingle cones with violet dyed Buffalo hair. This is an excellent early beaded scabbard with rare Buffalo Skinner RGRW knife. Knife is 10 5/8"L with 6.25"L blade. Sheath is 20"L with fringe x 3.25"W. Rare Greasy Yellow Base.
