Sioux Beaded & Quilled Hide Tomahawk Drop 19th C.
The lot features a unique beaded and quilled hide tomahawk war club drop attributed to the Sioux Native American Indians of the 19th Century. The piece shows a section of Indian tanned hide with geometric traditional beaded finish sewn in sinew and done in all glass trade seed beads of the correct period, including colors of chalk white, red white heart, greasy yellow and cobalt. The hide drop shows hide fringe and is tied to two hide, long fringed pieces that are completely wrapped in natural porcupine quills in a red natural dye and is further adorned with rolled tin jingle dangle cones with purple dyed horsehair. Provenance: From the largest American Indian Antiquities collection in Montana, where it was found to be an authentic pre-1890 example. Overall measures 15”L by 2”W.
