Measuring 13 1/4 inches overall, the 8 3/4 inch blade shows a strong temper line, with deeply cut 3 1/4 inch long horimono on each side; an intertwined pair of flowers on the left and a coiled rope with weighted ends on the right, a symbol associated with the Buddhist figure Fudo Myo-o. Fitted with a gilt bronze collar and signed on the tang "Kanehiro (Saku)". The grip is wrapped in leather, with an embossed twist pattern, and silver fittings, bearing a combination of engraving and inlay in gold and shakudo to create scenes of flying dragons. Similar scenes are present on the fittings of the gold speckled black lacquer scabbard, which is equipped with a silver hilted signed kogatana and a gilt brass and shakudo accented two-piece kogai.

Very fine overall, with a strong temper line and attractive grain. A few thin cracks are visible in the metal. Two mekugi-ana are present in the uncut tang, with a third filled. The horimono is sharply executed, and the silver fittings show a finely aged patina and attractive decoration. Mekugi absent. The saya is very good, with some minor chipping along the back edge.
