18.5" by 22.5" framed. Philadelphia artist, Sidney Rosanne was born in 1911 and started painting as a very young child. He graduated from The Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art in Philadelphia, attended The Graphic Sketch Club and The Fleicher Art Memorial. He studied at the Tyler School of Fine Art of Temple University, The Cheltenham Center For The Arts, and The Abington Art Center. He taught private art classes for over 40 years, and, in his youth, he worked as an illustrator for the N.W. Ayer Advertising Agency in Philadelphia. His works, displayed in many private collections, include a painting purchased for the Myers Elementary School, in Melrose Park, Pennsylvania as a memorial to a young student. Through the years, he had also been commissioned to paint portraits and murals. His primary medium was oil on canvas, but his experimentation with mixed media, included paint textured with sand and gravel, and paintings on unusually textured surfaces such as masonite, wall board, wood, and decoupage using rice paper, just to name a few. This experimentation into the textural aspect of the media brought a uniqueness to his works. Painting was a way of life for him until his illness made it impossible to work, and he died at the age of 89,in the year 2000
