Juncker, Christian. REFORMATIO IN NUMMIS BIS 1706. Karlsruhe, 1982. 8vo, original mottled printed boards. Title printed in red and black. (2), xxix, (65), 562, (12) pages; illustrated. Housed as issued in original cardboard slipcase. Fine. An infrequently seen modern reprint of the 1706 Das guldene und silberne Ehren-Gedächtniss des theuren Gottes-Lehrers d. Martini Lutheri. Originally published in Latin in 1699, this important work is an expanded edition of the earlier work, published in the author’s native language. It comprises a well illustrated, comprehensive catalogue of the coins and medals associated with Martin Luther and the Reformation. The 213 illustrations of medals include not only all of those concerning Martin Luther, but those related to other reformers like Brenz, Bucer, Calvin, Melanchton, and Zwingli, as well as Cromwell, Erasmus, and Dürer. Hirsch 67. Lipsius 204. Smith 57: “Most comprehensive compilation and study of Reformation medals, particularly strong on Luther and the Reformation in Germany.”
