Manufactured in 1894. The top barrel flat ahead of the rear sight is marked with the two line address and "38 W.C.F." at the breech. The serial number is marked on the bottom of the receiver and the upper tang is marked "MODEL 1892 / -WINCHESTER- / PAT. OCT.14, 1884.". German silver blade front and adjustable buckhorn rear sights, full magazine tube blue finish with casehardened hammer, lever and buttplate, and mounted with a checkered forearm and pistol grip stock with a steel end cap, hard rubber grip cap and crescent buttplate. The copy of the accompanying Cody Firearms Museum Records Office sheet verifies serial number 60651 as a Model 1892 rifle, 38 caliber, octagon barrel, plain trigger, plain pistol grip stock and that it was received in the warehouse on 9-17-1897 and shipped the same day on order number 16332.

Condition: Fine. The barrel and magazine show strong original blue finish mainly in the protected areas with a brown patina on the balance. The receiver retains 60% original thin blue finish mixed with smooth brown patina. The hammer and lever show traces of the original case colors in protected areas, with a smooth mottled gray patina on the balance. The buttplate has a silver gray patina with a small amount of oxidation and minor pitting. The checkering and varnish have been freshened on the stock showing moderate wear to the checkering and a few minor dings and handling marks. The forearm has a few minor dings and dents and crisp checkering. The markings are clear. The action is excellent.
