This is a RARE First Edition of "Remington's Frontier Sketches" by Frederic Remington, 1898 published by the Werner Company. Remington is arguably one of the most influential Western artists who ever lived. This book was published at about the pinnacle of his career and highlights some of his best works thus far. Frederic Sackrider Remington (1861-1909) was an American painter, illustrator, sculptor, and writer who specialized in the genre of Western American Art. His works are known for depicting the Western United States in the last quarter of the 19th century and featuring such images as cowboys, Native American Indians, and the US Cavalry. Unpaginated and illustrated with title page vignette, 15 monochrome full page plates with captioned parchment tissue guards printed in red. This is a noted collection of Remington's distinctive drawings of the American West depicting battle scenes between the U.S. Calvary and Plains Indians. White cloth bound illustrated hardcover with scuffing, soiling noted on the cover, moisture damage to boards exhibited. Gold gilt intact top, bottom and fore edge pages exhibit extensive moisture damage. Age tanning and foxing exhibited. Measures 9.5"W x 12"L, weight is 1lb, 12oz.
