Up for auction is this rare wire broom rack advertising Meadow Gold Brooms, made in the Deshler Broom Factory. Deshler brooms was incorporated in Deshler, Nebraska just prior to the turn of the Century. At the company's height of success in 1940, it employed 400 people and was recognised as the largest broom factory in the world. A series of fires in 1943, 1946, and 1947 destroyed most of the factory; it was not rebuilt. The A-frame rack, which can be folded flat for storage, stands 24" tall and has a 17.5" x 14" base when set up for display (included are three 38" brooms). The front of the rack shows a 10.5 x17.5 sign advertising the brooms. The yellow sign has blue and red embossed lettering. The top of the sign reads, "Meadow Gold Brooms/ Soft Brush Tip For Clean Sanitary Sweeping", in blue. Along the bottom, in red, "The Deshler Broom Factory INC. Deshler, NEBR. In the center is an embossed logo consisting of a globe with a broom through it and an image of the Deshler Broom factory inside the globe with the words, "Largest In The World". Circling the globe are the words, "Deshler Brooms/ Always Good". On either side of the globe is the familiar and trusted Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval. The sign is likely from c. 1935 and is in very good condition.
