The first Artifact we have included in this lot are Civil War Artillery Glasses. Great Example of Civil War Period "Artillery Glasses" aka "Artillery Goggles" with blue glass lenses ! Circa 1865. Used to stop any hot sparks from Blinding the Canon operating soldiers. The glasses show good condition and come in a tin carrying case. The second case of artifacts are Civil war "minis" from Gettysburg. The Minié ball, or Minni ball, is a type of muzzle-loading spin-stabilized bullet for rifled muskets named after its developer, Claude-Étienne Minié, inventor of the French Minié rifle. The case shows five grooved "mini" rounds a single partial round off the right hand side, and two buttons. One of the buttons has the American Bald Eagle holding arrows in one foot and laurel leaves in the left foot. The third artifact in this lot is a RARE 88th Regiment 2nd Irish Brigade Kepi Insignia. At the Battle of Antietam, the Irish Brigade was one of the many brigades to charge the famous "Bloody Lane," a road that was sunken down into the ground over years of use, now held by two Confederate brigades. The Insignia shows the harp that adorns the units battle colors and is made to wear on a Kepi, the kepi is most often associated with the American Civil War era, and continued into the Indian Wars. The fourth addition in this lot is a 19th Century Bird Shot Pouch showing a picture of a dog trotting past a tree. It also has a stamp identifying it holds 4lbs of shot. The last addition to this lot is a display including a Dove/ Eagle Pin that was found in Manassas, Va. at a Civil War site. The buckle in this display case is from a Civil War Uniform and was privately purchased outside Gettysburg Battlefield in 1960. The measurements of these display cases and associated items range from 6 1/2" x 5 1/4" to 1 1/4" x 2 3/4"
