<B>1856 Liberty Octagonal 25 Cents, BG-703A, R.8--Reverse Scratched--NCS. Unc Details.</B></I> This extremely rare variety was first reported in the August 8, 1984 issue of Coin World. Only two survivors are listed in the second edition of Breen-Gillio, the discovery piece and the Roe plate coin. The present piece is neither of those. It is free from wear, but is subdued by a cleaning and has a thick cluster of vertical pinscratches near 3 o'clock.
