(1) The Money of Puerto Rico by Gould, Maurice M. & Lincoln W. Higgie. Whitman Publishing Co. 1962. 12mo. 83 pages. Original black card covers, lettered in gilt. Fine. b&w plated throughout. Bibliography. This book is an illustrated history and price list of the coins, tokens and paper money which were once issued for use by the commonwealth of Puerto Rico. There are sections on counterstamped coins, the coinage of 1895-1896, paper money, and a heavy emphasis on plantation and merchant tokens.
(2) The Tokens of Puerto Rico by Vaia, D. D. Vaia. 1976. 12mo. 48 pages. Original yellow printed card covers. Fine. unplated. This book is a listing of the tokens of Puerto Rico. It contains a list of the known haciendas by region and date that issued tokens. It lists the tokens mentioned in the Gould and Higgie book as well as those not listed. It also lists all known sugar mills that issued tokens. Each token is given a value in dollars for above average condition.
(3) Historia Monetaria de Puerto Rico by Edward H. Roehrs (Ed.). Banco Credito y Ahorro Ponceño. 1964. 12mo. 27 pages. Original tan pictorial card covers. Very Good. unplated. This book is a representative listing of Puerto Rican Riles and coins in the collection of the author. The Riles and coins are listed by hacienda and list denomination, date catalog number and other descriptive information.
(4) The Coins of the West Indies by Raymond, Wayte. Wayte Raymond, Inc. 1942. 12mo. 24 pages. Original rust printed card covers. Fine. b&w plated throughout. This monograph is from Wayte Raymond's The Coin Collector Series - Number Ten. It is a catalog of coins of the countries that make up the West Indies. Each coin entry is organized by country and has information according to denomination, date, obverse and reverse details, and where included an obverse and reverse photo. The book also covers cut and counterstamped examples.
