Pre WWII Mauser-Reinhardt 8MM with WWII German sniper scope. After WWI, the new German army was only allowed 100,000 rifles in service and with millions of Gewehr 98s laying around, many were taken home by veterans and turned into hunting rifles. This converted Gewehr 98 has been drilled and tapped for a scope. Scope is a period correct Emil Busch sniper style fixed sight scope marked "Emil Busch A-G Rathenow Visar 2 3/4x Gewehr No 520". Bolt has been turned down and checkered, stock has been cut down and checkered. A new barrel was installed as part of this sporterization process and the barrel is marked Herm. Reinhardt-Wernigerode. Possible connection to the German general Alfred-Hermann Reinhardt, commander of the 98th Infantry Division which saw action on the Eastern Front. He was a recipient of the Knights Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves and Swords. Bore is mirror bright with strong rifling, stock has very minor crack on tang by where the bolt comes back. Donley Auctions will work with you to provide shipping. Shipper will contact you once items are paid for with a quote for shipping and handling. A signed FFL MUST be provided on ALL firearms regardless of vintage. As of 2019, all ammunition sold to CA residents must be shipped to an FFL. All items must be picked up from auction house within 5 days. Any item left over 5 days, will be charged $20 per day storage fee unless prior arrangements have been made.
If using your own shipper, please have your shipper contact us to arrange time and date of pickup. All items will be moved to an off site location after 5 days.

We work very hard for the consignor as well as the buyer. The auction moves fast between the auctioneer, the on site bids, and the live internet bids. Because of this, one little delay, or what we call 'hiccup' in the internet connection, can cause an online bid to be missed. We apologize if this happens, but it is sometimes inevitable. Due to the element of Third Party Auctions and the reliability/unreliability of technical issues, we reserve the right to end an auction early or extend an auction as we see fit. Under no circumstances shall Bidder have any kind of claim against Donley Auction Services or anyone else if the Internet service fails to work correctly before or during the live or timed auction. Donley Auction Services will not be responsible for any missed bids from any source. Internet bidders who desire to make certain their bid is acknowledged should use the Proxibid feature and leave their maximum bid 24 hours before the auction begins. Donley Auction Services reserves the right to withdraw or re-catalog items in this auction.
