Up for sale is a Washington Chief Gasoline sign. Washington Chief Gasoline was marketed by and a product of the Inland Empire Refinery in Spokane,WA. The Spokane refinery was supplied with crude from Cut Bank, MT as well as Wyoming. The refinery, which was operated between 1939 and 1953, was processing 11,000 train cars of crude a year at the beginning of WWII. Inland's fuel was also marketed under the brands Montana Chief, Oregon Chief, and Idaho Chief in each of the three other states respectively. This modern, single-sided Washington Chief Gasoline sign displays well with vibrant colors and excellent graphics; it measures 11 3/4" in diameter and has four riveted pre-drilled holes along the perimeter.
