Offered for your bidding pleasure we have this Plains Native American Indian Style War Club. There are many types of clubs, hatchets, and tomahawks, used across the Americas. On the Plains, however, they developed a particular style of stone club that is both distinctive and elegant. To hold securely, the stone is grooved in the center, with rawhide added into the groove attaching it to a long straight handle. This framework is bound in wet rawhide stretched over the entire length. This amazing war club haft displays a braided Parfleche rawhide handle, with added buffalo fur and large wood beads giving this piece wonderful detail. The end of the haft shows a wrist throng used to secure this club to the warrior offering a more secure grip in battle. This piece shows excellent quality and condition. It measures 29" long from the top of the stone to the end of the throng.
