This fabulous lamp attributed to Pierre Cardin (1922- ) dates from circa 1970 and is crafted from clear lucite, polished stainless steel and polished brass. It features its original wiring and dial (on cord) to adjust the brightness of its two bulbs. Condition is excellent, with no pitting nor dents, and only some very light scratches to the base. No signature or label has been found. Possibly manufactured by Yamada Shomei Lighting Co. Ltd. of Japan, one of the few lighting firms that Cardin is known to have worked with in the 1960s and 1970s. This work may have been designed in concert with Yonel Lebovici (1937-1998) or Serge Manzon (c1925-1998), Cardin's two key collaborators on lighting. This lamp will make a significant impression in any large space and measures 27.5" across, 30" high and 10" deep. Base has its original black rubber feet. This lamp is too large to ship by UPS and USPS and must be crated for safe delivery. This item resides on the Upper West Side of Manhattan ( New York City ) and may be seen by appointment.
