Paleolithic & Pre Columbian Artifacts
Presented in this lot is one Paleolithic Somme River Valley, France stone hand scraper artifact and four (4) pre-Columbian stone artifacts. The Pre Columbian items include two stone axe heads, 2.5"L x 2"W and 2"L x 1.75"W x.5"H respectively, most likely used as tools rather than as weapons due to their small sizes. An elogated stone artifact is 8.75" long, possibly bannerstone, used as a counterweight to balance a spear. Also included is a piece of fossilized tree; previously broken and glued together. Lastly is included a Paleolithic period hand scraper, 3.75"L x 1.25"W x 1"H, from the Somme River Valley in France, noted for discoveries of early human existence by French archaeologist Jacques Boucher de Crèvecœur de Perthes in 1863.
Artifacts are in good overall condition as noted.
