1881-This gorgeous pocket watch is an 8 size Waltham Ladies pocket watch with finely detailed gold case and machine turned details on case interiors. The dial is single-sunk white enamel with black roman numerals in the hour chapter, black tick marks in the outer chapter, and arabic numerals in the seconds dial. The hands are blued spades, and the face is inscribed "A.W. Co./ Waltham". The dial is in mint condition. Stem wind, lever set. The interior of the front case is inscribed with the case serial N3048 and features a mirror-like lustrous surface. The edges of the case show finely engraved scrollwork. The rear case interior is inscribed "AW/CO/ N3048/ 14k" and is also lustrous. The cuvet interior is machine turned and marked "14k/ N3048". The movement is a fine example of the 1873 model, Royal grade, which is the finest 8 size Waltham produced. The serial indicates that this watch was produced in 1881. According to various pocket watch serial number databases, there were only 60 of this particular model ever made. The movement has 13 jewels and is engraved "Bailey, Banks & Biddle/ Philadelphia/ 1,264076/ Pat. Pinion". This fine pocket watch features a solid gold train, and engraved gold detailing beneath the balance wheel and hairspring. This exquisite watch is in superb condition and looks new--remarkable for a timepiece dating to 1881. HKA#64352
