Certificate No. 1363. Dated January 8th, 1881 for 36 shares to William Stuart, Trustee. Signed by Charles W. Banks as Vice-President President, and Secretary, Wm. Frank. Incorporated in San Francisco Oct. 11, 1878 and capitalized at $13,400,000; 134,000 shares at $100. Datelined San Francisco. Lith. Britton & Rey, S.F. Profitable amounts of gold were discovered in Bodie in 1860, but the district became much more important in 1877 after the incorporation of the Standard Mine produced over $1 million in 1883. The name of this company is consistent with the fact that most of the district's miners were from Mexico (Ref: Burchard, 1884, p. 173-76). Date: Location: Bodie, California HWAC# 572039
