Featured in this lot we have an original watercolor painting by Crow Native American Indian artist Leland Stewart in his iconic horseback warrior design. Leland Stewart, a Montana native, is a member of the Crow Nation, Whistling Water Clan and the High Hawk Society. He graduated from the Institute of the American Indian Arts in 1975. Stewart's artwork is featured in in Montana fine art galleries and beyond. Many of Stewart’s works can be found at the Sam Terakedis Fine Art & Jewelry Gallery. Some examples of his art have been priced at $6,200 for Two Sisters in the Bear Paws, $5,500 for Uncle Buffalo, and $6,000 for The Visitor. This painting shows three robes figures with the head of a bear, elk, and buffalo. The bottom of the art displays nine Crow Native American braves with eight of the figures on horseback. The piece exhibits Stewart’s unique style of bright, vivid colors and personal interpretation of his Native American Indian heritage. This example is of a large size such as the above paintings. Leland Stewart’s work has been in high demand since his work has been on permanent display at the Yellowstone Art Museum in Billings, Montana. The piece is signed in the lower right corner "Leland Stewart 2020". The watercolor is in very good condition. The art measures 22" wide by 30" tall.
