For your consideration is this framed original oil painting, signed, "R. Thomas Platt. 29". Ray Thomas Platt was born in 1897 in Texas. He moved in the 1930's to California with his wife, Canadian artist, Beula Bradleigh Platt. Platt painted this painting while still living Texas. The landscape painting has a classic American Southwest desert vibe. The painting depicts a man and his burro, both carrying packs, walking through a desert area containing low shrub-like plants. They are walking toward a river with mountains on the other side. Part of the mountains in front of the man appear to be reflecting light from a setting sun; further in the distance are the purple silhouettes of more mountains. The painting is framed in a gilded wood frame that appears to be original. The painted surface measures 28" x 23"; its frame measures 23" x 29". The piece is in good condition, but has some minor paint loss in the upper right corner.
