This is an original G.C. (Gerry) Wentworth wax sculpture titled "Border of Sacred Ground". Gerry Wentworth was a Great Falls, Montana artist who grew up in the era just after Charles Russell's life. He was largely self taught and spent the majority of his life working in painting, sculpture and wood carving. Wentworth's works have been widely exhibited in such places as the C.M. Russell Show, the Phippen Art Show and the Frank Tenney Johnson Show. In 1981, he won Best of Show at the Northwest Americana Art Show. This sculpture shows a frontiersman on horseback approaching a Native American who is protecting a sacred burial ground. The piece shows fine detail and is in good condition. It measures 7" x 14.25" and is 11.5" tall. The piece has been signed by the artist and is dated "1978". Comes with a Certificate of Authenticity and the rights to have the piece cast in bronze.
