Original Fred Fellows Covered Wagon Days Painting
Included in this lot is an original Fred Fellows painting titled “Covered Wagon Days”. Fellows inspired by the neighboring 101 Ranch and the Otoe and Osage tribes, Fred Fellows developed an early interest in western culture. Born in Ponca City, Oklahoma, in 1934, Fellows moved to California with his family when he was nine, but returned to Oklahoma every summer to stay with his grandparents. In California, Fellows had the opportunity to live the lifestyle he so admired; he competed on the rodeo circuit, worked as an apprentice saddle maker, and even spent time as a cowboy on the Jamison Ranch in Monolith, California. Following his dream, Fellows moved to Big Fork, Montana, in 1964 where he turned fulltime to creating art. Just five years later, Fellows received an invitation to join the Cowboy Artists of America, and his career took off. Incredibly, Fellows has won gold and silver medals in all media: painting, sculpture, watercolor and drawing. He resides in Sonoita, Arizona, where he paints, sculpts, rides, and raises Quarter Horses. This original painting depicts a couple driving a covered wagon along a trail. The frame measures 39 ½” x 29 ½” and the artwork measures 30” x 20”.
