For your consideration is this modern re-creation of of an Oilzum Motor Oils and Lubricants sign. Oilzum was one of the first brand name motor oils. In 1905 F.W. White and H.P. Bagley (White & Bagley Co.) wanted to develop a practical motor oil with a long service life and good protective properties. Oilzum was made to meet very high standards; it was used by professional race car drivers in the Indianapolis 500, winning many races and setting early land speed records. Oilzum was purchased by the Dryden Oil Company in 1970 and soon after bought by Castrol. The current owner and manufacturer of the brand is Dennison Lubricants, Inc. This re-creation sign measures 25.5" and is single sided. the sign is red and black on white. It reads, "If Motors Could Speak we wouldn't need to Advertise/ The Cream of Pure Pennsylvania Oil". In the center of the sign is the image of a man's head wearing a cap and goggles. Text inside the hat reads, "The White & Bagley Co. Worcester Mass. U.S.A. Trade Mark Reg. U.S. PAT. OFF./ Oilzum Motor Oils and Lubricants." The sign is in good condition but is missing some paint in a line of about 9"-10" (see photos).
