The lot features an early 1900's gunstock spontoon war club from the Northern Plains Native American Indians. The piece shows a solid Oak hardwood gunstock war club haft with an early sweeping head and silver pewter poured end. The gunstock is set with a spontoon spear head blade which shows a double edge and medium ridge down the center and single notch cut at the rear. The back end of the spontoon blade shows a squared tapering mount. The war club is in the early Revolutionary War Spontoon and Gunstock design and displays very well. The top of the gunstock is adorned with dozens of solid iron trade tacks, a later addition. The war club measures 26 3/4" long with the spontoon measuring 4 3/4" long. Circa 1900-1940's.
