Published by Pratt & Co. "…containing a new map of New-England, an almanac for 1849, a memorandum for every day in the year and a business directory for New-England". Also, "A Short Advertising Register and a business directory of many of the principal mercantile houses and manufacturing establishments of New York. States covered: Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Vermont, Rhode Island, Connecticut.” Map for each. The New England Mercantile Union was established in 1848 by a union of all the mercantile firms, manufacturing establishments and professional men, for the purpose of securing to all, better facilities for business correspondence, and the giving and receiving of consignments. The business directory, it was decided, was the cheapest and most effectual method of accomplishing this. Includes a Table of Contents with an alphabetical list of towns.
