Nevada City,CA - Nevada County - April 2, 1900 - Frank Golden Jewelry Co. Letter :
Written on the Frank Golden Jewelry Co. letterhead, sub-titled, “Watches, Diamonds and Fine Jewelry. Fine Watch and Jewelry Repairing A Specialty.” The letter is addressed to the Bullion and Exchange Bank in Carson City and regards the enclosure of a check for $2,500. Signed by Frank Golden. There is more information to be obtained regarding Frank Golden. He is known to have been a jeweler in Virginia City, NV in 1883, as the Territorial Enterprise dutifully reports an altercation between Golden, along with some of his fellow businessmen, and a man named Lembert in its December issues, with some name calling involved [Ref: Nevada Printing History, by Robert Armstrong, 1991, pg. 99]. By 1899 Golden is reported working in Nevada City, CA. The Jewelers Circular and Horological Review of August 2, 1899 reported that “George Blakesley of Carson City, Nevada has gone to Nevada City, Cal. to take charge of the Frank Golden Jewelry Co. store” (Vol. XXXIX, pg. 38). Golden, however, was still in charge to some degree, as per the date on this letter and his signature.
