Offered to you in this lot is an early 2nd or 3rd phase Navajo Native American Indian Old Pawn, sterling silver, whirling log concho belt, originating from circa 1890-1910. The belt is based off of a supple, thick leather strap, with rich dark brown color. Additionally, the belt is decorated with fourteen sterling silver scalloped conchos, each of which displays a central whirling log encircled with hand stamped, traditional Navajo design. The early pawn silver concho belt is believed to be one of the first examples to display the Whirling Log motif. The belt shows good condition. The conchos display a soft sterling silver patina, and the leather is soft, malleable, and free of cracks. The belt strap itself measures 49 1/8" long, and 1 1/2" wide, the main buckle concho measures 2 7/8" wide, and 2 3/8" tall.
