Navajo Late Classic / Early Transitional Blanket
The lot features a beautiful late classic / early transitional late-19th century blanket. The blanket shows a soft tight wool construction with wonderful pattern which dates to the late classic men’s serape to early transitional era circa 1870-1880's. The blanket shows natural hand spun wools, lazy lines and rich natural colors with raveled dyes as well. The condition of the rug is well preserved with only slight wear to the weaving but otherwise shows a well preserved condition. The measurements of this rug are 85" x 65". Provenance: From a prominent ex-Bozeman private collection who purchased the majority of his collection from Cowan's, Skinner, Bonham's, Morphy's, Sotheby's, March in Montana, North American Auction and other well revered auction houses. The rug was featured in the March in Montana Auction.*
