Ernst Beißner was born the son of merchant Carl August Beißner (* October 24, 1866 in Grossenwieden, Schaumburg) and Maria Pauline Eleonore Benzenberg (* August 15, 1870 in Wuppertal-Elberfeld). After attending elementary school and secondary school in Hattingen, where he graduated from high school, Beißner completed a two-year commercial apprenticeship in the textile industry .Following a three-month bank traineeship, he joined his father's retail business, where he served as managing director from April 1, 1923, to August 15, 1933.
