Renamed the Jumbo Mining District after 1863, the Argentine district was located on the western slope of the Virginia Range west of Virginia City. Certificate was issued to John Carpender, a noted judge and friend to California gold discoverer James Marshall (http://www.farmanddairy.com/news/america-west-archives-auctions/1836.html)

Certificate with a wild vignette of a young woman lying tied on the back of a galloping horse. Issued from Virginia City, it states that the mines were located in the Argentine District Washoe Co. N. T. Has black on white printing with a bold title across the top and states that only 1,400 shares existed, one foot to the share. Has very slight, tiny tape residue on the corners as if once mounted, not noticeable, but with tiny damage in one corner with very slight paper loss. Otherwise it is in good condition. Certificate No. 3 for 10 shares, November 9th, 1963.
