Incorporated January 24th 1908 in Nevada. Certificate number 566. Principle office in Tonopah Nevada. Issued to George Wingfield for one thousand shares stamped very lightly. Endorsed by H.C. Price as assistant secretary, and L.A. Gibbons as vice president. Also endorsed on the reverse by Wingfield. U/C. Various stains throughout, with yellowing along the edges. This mine may either be a claim in Tonopah or possibly the Tiger claim in Bullfrog. According to the "ghost town seekers" website by Wynn, George Wingfield was a man who had great political and financial power. He started a partnership with George S. Nixon who later became a U.S. Senator. Together they consolidated various mining companies. As Wingfield grew wealthier, he branched out becoming president and banker of many different mining corporations. For a period of time, he owned nearly every bank in the state by the young age of thirty making him a multi-millionaire. After that, he tried his hand at politics, making investments in banks, fuel, and even road construction. Wingfield was remembered for keeping Tonopah and Goldfield's mineral wealth in Nevada. However, by 1932, each of his banks collapsed, running the state into an economic flop. He quickly filed for bankruptcy soon after.
